Pastor arrested for flogging his ushers and members with a cane (video)

A video showing a Ugandan Pastor, Kinto Dennis, beating congregants with a cane has led to his arrest. The Pastor, who leads the Empowerment City Church (ECC), faces multiple charges, including assault.

In the viral video, Pastor Dennis can be seen standing at the pulpit with a long whip, calling congregants one by one to lie down before striking their backs or buttocks. The flogging allegedly took place in a country where corporal punishment is outlawed, and the Pastor is facing 18 counts of common assault, causing bodily harm, assault, promoting sectarianism, and human trafficking.

During his arraignment, some of his congregants defended him on social media, claiming he was only disciplining “his children.” Despite his absence, several worshippers were present at the service, and journalists attempting to film the church were reportedly apprehended and beaten before being ordered to delete their footage.
